Kim Staelens

Kim Staelens ( born January 7, 1982 in Kortrijk, Belgium) is a Dutch volleyball player.

Career

Kim Staelens is the daughter of coach Jean -Pierre Staelens. Her sister is also Chaine professional volleyball player. Kim Staelens began her career in the Belgian league and played in Wervik and Wevelgem. Later she followed her sister to the Netherlands. Since her mother is Dutch, she took to citizenship. In the neighboring country they played for Bonduelle VVC Vught. The VC Weert they won the 1999 Dutch league and cup double. Then the setter went to France, where, however, she was happy neither in Marcq -en- Barœul still in a spa Albi. Successful went their time at the German Bundesliga USC Münster, for which it joined in 2002. After two second places Staelens won in 2004 and 2005 with the Double Munster league and DVV Cup. However, she was not in the last two years on the field, because she had suffered a cruciate ligament injury on 29 December 2003. After rehabilitation, the national team went with many other members of the Dutch selection Martinus Amstelveen. Later she moved to Italy, where she played with Perugia and Asystel Novara and in the Champions League. In September, she brought a daughter into the world, pausing for the family. 2011/12 they played in the Bundesliga again when VT Aurubis Hamburg, where she was coached by her father. 2012 joined Kim Staelens to Poland to Impel Gwardia Wrocław.

Staelens 1999 she took part in the European Junior Championships in Poland and has been named best setter of the tournament. In 2003 she debuted in the Dutch national team and was at the European Championships in Turkey next best player on their position. Five other EM appearances and three world championships followed. With the Netherlands Staelens won the Grand Prix in 2007. During the 2009 European Championships she reached the Final.
