Kimball is a small town in Brule County in the U.S. state of South Dakota with a population of 745.

History

Kimball was first mentioned as a Stake 48 on the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad. In 1880 for the first time raised farmers claim to the land in the vicinity of Stake 48 By 1883 Kimball was organized as a village. Was named the city after the inspector JW Kimball.
