Haori (羽 织Japanese, literally " spring tissue ") is a continuous up on hip or leg height Kimono 's jacket in the manner of a jacket. It provides more formality and was formerly with the associated family crest (mon ) or the emblem of the dojo decorated. Haori were originally reserved for men only, but at the end of the Meiji period changed the fashion. Today haori are worn by both men and women, the jackets of the women tend to be longer.

The best-known form of the haori is the kuro Montsuki, completely in black and provided with only the white family coat of arms, especially for funerals and formal occasions reserved.
