Idea
The child star is a social sculpture. You reaslisiert the expanded concept of art, the Joseph Beuys formulated in 1967, according to which art is also to act socially changing. History
For the first time the child star was published in 1988 in red as screen printing. This pressure was in addition to the original prints by Sol LeWitt, Immendorff, Sigmar Polke, Max Bill, Heinz Mack, Keith Haring part of an art portfolio, the Luitpold Domberger ( Domberger Edition ) was published in 1989 and was built under the patronage of Lothar Späth. Title of Session: " Children's Songbook ". The proceeds helped in financing from parent homes near children's hospitals.
The artistic intention, the Imi Knoebel led to the star and the children joined him from now on with him, went beyond the first project. His intention was aimed at continuity and expansion. The child star was to jump to the program, to promise, for children concretely into the breach. In the name and under the sign of the star's children, a non-profit organization founded in the same year, based in Dusseldorf. His task is accomplished projects -profit initiatives in the service of children in need tracking. Imi Knoebel, as both initiator itself is not a member of the association, committed to continuous production of child stars for the purpose of the association. Almost every year new children stars come in limited colors. These children stars are donated in recognition of all donors that support the concerns of the child star.
