History

SLR cameras have been known since the late nineteenth century. With the advent of small-format photography from 1925, however, it seemed at first due to the small viewfinder impossible to carry cameras for such a small size as a reflex. Karl Nüchterlein, design engineer at Ihagee in Dresden had initially constructed a SLR for the 4 x 6 1/2 cm on roll film A8 (marketed as Exakta Exakta or standard ). From this camera, he derived a small-format camera, the focusing screen bottom was a strong magnifying glass. In order for the viewfinder image was enlarged so that you could use it to adjust the image sharpness.

Technical

The camera has a trapezoidal engineered cast iron body with bolted web of film and a removable rear panel.

The camera shutter is designed as a cloth focal plane shutter with two towels and tissues can realize exposure times from 1/1000 second up to a full 12 seconds. In addition, there is a self-timer times up to six seconds.

On top of the camera of the central light well the time setting knob 25 seconds plus B and Z ( T) is left for the short exposure times from 1/1000 second to 1 / located next to the advance lever and frame counter this the. A quick lever up here for the first time on at a miniature camera. Is the lever with which the film transport is canceled in order to rewind the film into its housing can Between the time setting knob and quick shifter. On the right side of the camera is the knob for the long exposure times, and for the Selbsauslöserfunktion.

At the front of the camera can be found in photographing the left of the lens and the shutter button on the right you will find the port for flash lamps. The lens mount is designed as a quick-change bayonet.

Be found on the camera bottom center the tripod mount, and both sides thereof to the camera outsides film key. So that the rewinding of the exposed film is performed, for example. On the right side is the button which belongs to the film cutting knife so that the film can be cut off prematurely and the already exposed film unit can be supplied to the developing.

The viewfinder is designed as a light shaft that can be folded for transport and then locks the trigger. The focusing screen is running at its top a magnifying glass. In addition there is a motion to the other magnification of the viewfinder, which can be swiveled when required. This is located at the front of the light shaft and housing are in the pivoted state has a sports finder from. In the first cameras this motion was carried round and enlarged only the center of the focusing screen, the rest covered, however. This was changed to a square magnifier later. This was also easily possible later, so there are now only a few original cameras.

The surface- silvered mirrors remained after the inclusion in its upper position and is only pivoted back into the position of use the further transport of the film.

The lens aperture was not triggered by the camera as it is now commonplace, but had to be closed by hand to the desired value.
