King's X

King's X is an American rock band from the area of ​​progressive rock, consisting of Ty Tabor (guitar, vocals), Doug Pinnick (vocals, bass) and Jerry Gaskill (drums, vocals).

History

The three musicians found in 1980 together and tried in various bands in which they played, among other cover songs by the Beatles, U2 or The Police. In 1983 the band to form a solid trio. Under the name Sneak preview appeared in the same year an eponymous studio album, from which none of the parties was especially enthusiastic. Two years later, the band met the manager and producer Sam Taylor (ZZ Top), who convinced them to change its name in King's X.

In 1988 the debut album Out of the Silent Planet was published. The successor Gretchen Goes to Nebraska was published in 1989 and gave the band presence on the radio and on MTV. As a result, the trio stepped on, among other things as the opening act for AC / DC. The following albums reached the Top 100 in the U.S. charts. However, the commercial breakthrough was made ​​and broken internal problems the band mid-nineties.

In 1996, ended its cooperation with the former record company Atlantic Records. The three band members went to their respective solo projects. After two years without publishing (except for the Best Of album ) was released in 1998, the self-produced album Tape Head. Also in the following CDs, the band decided not to an external producer. 2005 was Ogre Tones, in cooperation with the German - American hard rock and metal specialists Michael Wagener, with the then also the last studio album to date XV was added in 2008.

Style
