King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital

The King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital (abbreviated kcmh in Thai: โรง พยาบาล จุฬาลงกรณ์, German " Chulalongkorn Hospital ") is a large hospital in Bangkok, capital of Thailand.

History

It's run by the Thai Red Cross Hospital ( Thai สภากาชาดไทย ). The hospital was inaugurated by King Vajiravudh on 30 May 1914 and named after his father, King Chulalongkorn. It was funded by the King and his family.

General

The hospital now has over 1500 beds is one of the largest hospitals in Thailand. The hospital works closely with the Chulalongkorn University as a teaching hospital together and forms in a separate school nursing staff.

Location

The hospital is located in the downtown district Pathum Wan at the intersection of Rama IV Road ( Thanon Phra Ram 4) with the Henri Dunant Road ( Thanon Henri Dunant ). Nearby, on the other side of the street Thanon Henri Dunant, is the Pasteur Institute, which is also known as "Snake Farm" due to its production of antidotes for snake bites.
