Kingdom of the Isles

The Kingdom of the Isles (also Kingdom of the Hebrides ) was a Norwegian territory in the North Atlantic. It existed from the 9th century until the Treaty of Perth in 1266 and included the Hebrides, the Kintyre peninsula and the islands of Arran, Bute and Man. In Norse, the area was referred to as opposed to the Orkney and Shetland comprehensive Norðreyjar ( Northern Islands) as Sudreyjar ( Southern Islands).
