Kinky Boots is a musical in two acts by Harvey Fierstein ( musical libretto ) and Cyndi Lauper (music and lyrics ). The work was premiered on October 2, 2012 in Chicago. Background

Kinky Boots is based on the eponymous movie, which in turn was inspired by an episode of the documentary series Trouble at the Top on BBC Two. Performance history

The musical was first made in Chicago in the Bank of America Theatre on the game board. The premiere celebrated Kinky Boots on October 2, 2012. Direction and choreography were in the hands of Jerry Mitchell, David Rockwell designed the sets, the costumes drew Gregg Barnes responsible for lighting technology Kenneth Posner.
