Kino (movement)

Cinema [ cinema ] ( from Ancient Greek κίνησις for kinesis movement ) is an international movement of filmmakers.

Concept and dissemination

Its members (Fr. kinoïtes ) meet monthly in locally organized groups to show their predominantly non - commercially produced films on canvas and give each other feedback. The screenings are open to the public and are also used by non-members to present their films, because basically everyone brought film is to be shown.

The cinema movement was founded in Montreal by Christian Laurence 1999. Even today, the Canadian province of Quebec is the region with the highest density of local groups. The cinema movement is active in more than seventy cities.

Outside of Canada, there are theater locations in the USA and Mexico, in several European countries ( including Germany, Austria and Switzerland ), in Benin, Senegal and Réunion as well as in Australia.

Kino Kabaret

The Cinema Cabaret ( sic. ) is a meeting of kinoïtes from around the world, which often takes place in the context of an existing film festivals locally. The meeting consists of several screenings of short films, which are usually produced in each case within 48 or 60 hours from small groups. The vast majority of short films of this kind are almost completely without budget. Therefore, the motto of the cinema movement: " Do well with nothing, do better with little and do it right NOW"

Sometimes, one of the screenings of silent films accompanied by live music and reflects the beginnings of film history.

A cinema cabaret in Germany there are about in Berlin in September, in June at the International Short Film Festival Hamburg, in May in Austria at the Vienna Short Film Festival Vienna Independent Shorts.

The Berlin group KinoBerlino existed since 2004. In cooperation with the International Film Berlin Festival originated in November 2005 has many worthwhile gems. In September 2006, enthusiasts arrived from Germany, Canada, Poland, Belgium and the UK again in ACUD. KinoBerlino has become the nexus for free filmmaker and annually attracts over 100 creative people to KinoKabaret, the guest at the youth club ELOK since 2009.
