Kino (UK rock band)

Cinema was a super group of four musicians of the progressive rock scene.

History

The formation of the band goes back to an initiative of the InsideOut label boss Thomas Waber, the guitarist and singer John Mitchell (Arena, The Urbane, Blind Ego ) after the preliminary resolution of Transatlantic 2002 asked what musicians he introduced a new band project could. Mitchell immediately called the name John Beck ( It Bites ) and Pete Trewavas ( Marillion, Transatlantic ). The latter brought Chris Maitland (ex - Porcupine Tree ) on drums this week.

The first album was recorded at Outhouse Studios in Reading, produced by the band and released in early 2005. At a subsequent tour cinema appeared as the opening act of Spock 's Beard. To support a second tour in winter 2005/2006 demos, live recordings and outtakes have been ( including the cover version of a Kevin Gilbert songs ) published on the second album " Cutting Room Floor", which at first only on the concerts, and later on website of the band was sold. Even during the tours Maitland was occasionally replaced by Bob Dalton, before it was quiet around the band.
