Kirill Preobrazhenskiy

Kirill Preobrazhensky (Russian Кирилл Преображенский, also English transcribed Kirill Preobrazhenskiy; * 1970 in Moscow ) is a Russian artist who uses the medium of video and installation art. His work has been shown at the documenta.

Life and work

Kirill Preobrazhensky works with videos, video installations and performances. Themes of his work are media theory, semiotics and popular culture, which he refers to everyday reality and social and political contexts. As part of the Moscow organization he worked in 1992 with the interactive art project Piazza Virtuale that was shown during the documenta IX in the form of an official special event.

As the official documenta artist Preobrazhensky participated in the documenta 12 in part. For his sound installation shown there Tram 4 Inner Voice Radio he recorded life stories of immigrants and made this erhörbar through headphones in a Kassel tram. Preobrazhensky lives and works in Moscow.

  • 2007: Ottobre. Uscita, Desiderio e Memoria, Artra, Milan.
  • 2007: Documenta 12, Kassel, Germany. On display was the work of Tram 4 Inner Voice Radio, a sound installation in the tram line 4, Kaufungen - Matt Berg.
