Kirn- Sulzbach is a borough of the city joined free Kirn in the district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland- Palatinate. Until 1969, the place under the name " Kirn Sulzbach " was a separate municipality.

Geography

Kirn- Sulzbach is located on the left bank of the Nahe. Neighboring towns are Heimweiler, Bear Creek, Niederreidenbacherhof, Weiersbach, Fischbach ( in Idar -Oberstein ), Berschweiler at Kirn and mountains. While Kirn belongs to the district of Bad Kreuznach, Kirn Sulzbach was prior to the incorporation a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld.

Of the 1008 inhabitants Kirn- Sulzbach 48.11 % are Protestants, 40.77 % Catholic, 9.42% no religious affiliation, 1.19% members of other faith communities, 0.49 % without information.

History

Nationwide became famous for the formerly independent municipality, because it was there in 1923 one of the first public decisions in Germany. So a vote on the early election of the municipal council was conducted on 11 March 1923 on application of 162 eligible voters. This resulted in 160 votes for and 115 votes against early elections. Legal History of the case is of interest because it was the only known successful referendum in his early oldenburgischen part of the country Birkenfeld.
