Kissinger Sommer

The Kissinger Sommer is held annually international music festival in Bad Kissingen. The festival takes place since 1986 from mid- June to mid- July. The program is very versatile: apart from baroque music and orchestral music from the classical, romantic and modern is also chamber music and vocal music on the program.

The performers come from among the world's best, so came inter alia, the singer Cecilia Bartoli, and the countertenor Philippe Jaroussky and pianists such as Lang Lang, Evgeny Kissin, Arcadi Volodos, Grigory Sokolov, Jean- Yves Thibaudet and Lars Vogt on.

The concerts are held, among others, in the halls of the Regent building and Kurtheater Bad Kissingen, and at venues in the area, such as the parish church in mutton castle or at the Kursaal Bad Brückenau.

Since 1999, in winter, from mid-December to mid-January, the Kissinger Winter Magic, the festival for the fourth season.

Luitpold Price

Every year, awarded by the Friends of Kissinger founded on January 24, 1992 summer - after 20 years of existence with over 1,100 members of the largest sponsor of the music festival - its worth 5,000 euros Luitpold price. This prize is named after the Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria, the builder of the Bad Kissingen Festival Theatre Regent, and has been awarded since 1999 by a mixed of professionals and lay jury to those young artists who stood out particularly well in the respective summer festival.
