Kivertsi

Kiwerzi (Ukrainian Ківерці; Russian Киверцы / Kivertsy, Polish Kiwerce ) is a small Ukrainian town with 14,916 inhabitants ( 2011) and railway junction. It is located in the Volyn oblast. Kiwerzi is located about 14 km north of the district capital of Lutsk.

The city grew up around an important railway station from the end of the 19th century and was declared a town in 1951. The current coat of arms was adopted on 9 September 1999.

In the city there is a well-known school for nurses.

Today, following the railway lines connect the town to the railway network:

  • Railway line Kovel - Kosjatyn ( opened in 1873 )
  • Railway line Lviv - Kiwerzi ( opened in 1890 )
