Kiyomatsu Matsubara

Matsubara Kiyomatsu (Japanese松原 喜 代 松; * 1907, † 1968) was a Japanese marine biologist, ichthyologist and herpetologist.

Kiyomatsu Matsubara was the first professor of the Department of Fisheries of the University of Kyoto and is considered the founder of research at the fish systematics in Japan. He focused in his research primarily on the scorpion fish ( Scorpaeniformes ) and published a large number of books and scientific articles. He described several new species of fish, including about the Krokodilshai ( Pseudocarcharias kamoharai ). Were named after him, the Rays Bathyraja matsubarai ( Ishiyama, 1952) and Dasyatis matsubarai Miyosi, 1939.
