Kjell Westö

Kjell Westö ( born August 6, 1961 in Helsinki) is a Finnish writer.

Westö is Finland and Sweden already written numerous novels and short stories. The ambivalent relationship between the Swedish-speaking minority in Finland on the one side and the Finnish-speaking majority, on the other characterizes his work.

In 2006 he received for his novel Dar vi en gång GATT the prestigious Finlandia Prize. The Finnish Theatre version of the novel " Missae me kuljimme kerran " (such as: "Where we once Walked" ) premiered on 3 April 2008 in Helsinki City Theatre.
