Kjetil Jansrud

Kjetil Jansrud ( born August 28, 1985 in Stavanger ) is a Norwegian ski racer. His greatest achievement is winning the gold medal in the Super- G at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. With the bronze medal in the downhill in 2014 and the silver medal in the giant slalom in 2010, he could win next two Olympic medals. He also won two medals at the World Junior Championships and in the season 2004/ 05 the overall standings in the European Cup.

Biography

Jansrud denied in December 2000, his first FIS races and one year later the first time in competitions in the European part. From the season 2002/ 03 Jansrud started regularly in the European Cup. The end of November he clinched third place, 25 in the first slalom in Levi his first points and the next day he reached the second slalom already the ninth. In the following year and a half he came but only two more times in the top ten, to him on 5 March 2004 in the Slalom in Pas de la Casa scored the first podium finish. The final breakthrough in the European Cup he succeeded in the season 2004/05. Jansrud won two slaloms and two giant slalom achieved six podiums and a total of 19 top- 10 finishes. He won the slalom and giant slalom standings and points equal to the Austrian Hannes Reichelt also the overall standings.

From 2002 to 2005 Jansrud participated in four World Junior Championships. In 2003, he missed a fourth in the combined score barely a medal, in 2004 he won second place in the giant slalom for the first time precious metal and in 2005 he won the combination another silver medal.

With another top 10 place he reached the end of season ranked ninth in the giant slalom World Cup. In slalom, he stayed after a few failures without the World Cup points, but he was able to score the first time in the Super -G. Several failures he suffered at the World Championship in 2009 in Val d'Isere. In both the slalom and giant slalom, he left in the first passage and also in the super G, he did not come to the finish. Its only result was the ninth place in the combination.

At the start of the World Cup season 2009/10 Jansrud achieved two top 10 finishes in the giant slalom in Soelden and Beaver Creek. He also took on the challenging Birds of Prey piste in Beaver Creek for the first time in the downhill World Cup points. On 30 January 2010, he reached second place in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora his hitherto best World Cup result, after he had occupied the previous day there at the first giant slalom in third place. This result was confirmed Jansrud at the Olympic Winter Games in 2010, where he won the silver medal in the giant slalom behind Carlo Janka. In the World Cup Winter 2011/12 Jansrud improved significantly in the speed disciplines Downhill and Super -G. He showed solid performances and binned by the end of February ten times in the top ten (including two third places). In early March, he drove in the first Super -G and Downhill Kvitfjell turn twice on the podium, where he was beaten by only three and two hundredths of a second. His comeback in the World Cup it was the end of November 2013 in Lake Louise. He could almost instantly connect to his former services and peaked in mid-December of 2013 with the second place in the downhill in Val Gardena the first podium after his injury. At the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014 he was 2014 Olympic champion in super-G after winning the bronze medal in the downhill on February 16.
