Kjós ( Isl Kjósarhreppur ) is an Icelandic community in the region Höfuðborgarsvæðið in western Iceland.

On 1 January 2009 Kjós had 196 inhabitants.

Geography

At Kjós bordered on the southwest by the municipality Reykjavíkurborg capital and is located south of Hvalfjörður. In the northeast, the municipality borders the municipality Hvalfjarðarsveit and in the east on the community Bláskógabyggð. In the far east is the mountain Botnssúlur, south of the lakes Sandvatn and Myrkavatn from which the Öxará flows.

The lake Meðafellsvatn located relatively central in the municipality.

The municipal area lie the valleys Miðdalur, Eilífsdalur, Flekkudalur, Eyjadalur, Laxárdalur, Svínadalur, Fossárdalur and Brynjudalur.

Transport and Infrastructure

The area is connected by road 47, which runs along the Hvalfjörður to the Hringvegur. The road 48 provides the connection to the road 36 from the northern part of the area to the south.
