Klaus Beer

Klaus Beer ( born November 14, 1942 in Legnica ) was in the 1960s a successful athlete of the sports club SC Dynamo Berlin.

In the years 1961, 1962, 1964 and 1967 to 1970 he was East German champion in the long jump, also in 1966, Vice-Champion (1972 third place). In addition, he was several times champion at the Indoor Championships (1965, 1968-1970 ) and Vice twice (1971, 1972). He won both the European Cup in 1970 in Stockholm and at the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 1970 as two silver medals.

The highlight of his career was winning the silver medal in the long jump at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City. He was having a width of 8.19 m second behind Bob Beamon, who jumped 8.90 meters world record in this competition.

At a height of 1.75 m, it had a competition weight of 78 kg. His children Ron and Peggy were also successful athletes.
