Klaus-Jürgen Bathe

Klaus -Jürgen Bathe ( born May 26, 1943 in Berlin ) is a German engineering and a professor of mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Bathe is a pioneer in the field of finite element method.

Life and education

Bathe went in Oldenburg ( Oldenburg) to school and studied in South Africa. At the University of Cape Town in 1967 he made his first bachelor's degree in civil engineering. A M.Sc. in Civil Engineering received Bathe 1969 at the University of Calgary. He was then in 1971 at the University of California, Berkeley to the Ph.D. doctorate. His doctoral thesis was a numerical solution of large eigenvalue problems.
