Klauspeter Seibel

Klaus Peter Seibel ( born May 7, 1936 in Offenbach am Main, † January 8, 2011 in Hamburg ) was a German conductor.

He was music director of the cities of Kiel and Freiburg. As chief conductor he led the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans. He has appeared regularly at the Semperoper Dresden, Hamburg State Opera, the Vienna State Opera and the New Orleans Opera. In addition to his active work as a conductor Seibel devoted over two decades training the next generation. Many of his students are now found in senior positions of German music. Klaus Peter Seibel was president of the Gustav Mahler Association, Hamburg.

Hans Peter Seibel has played and composed as a child. In addition to attending the grammar school he was apprenticed to the 18 th year of life as a pianist. He then completed a musical education at the Municipal Conservatory of Nuremberg (1948-1956) and at the Munich Academy of Music (1956-1958), - in piano with Rosl Schmid, composition with Karl Höller, conducting with Kurt Eichhorn and GELessing. Special interest in musical theater, he won by a trainee at Munich Gärtnerplatztheater on which he was engaged a year later as a coach. He jumped with 21 years as a conductor for Millöcker operetta " Gaspaone " and subsequently received immediately " Pericole " by Jaques Offenbach first own debut as a conductor.

Seibel's career began in 1957 as Kapellmeister at Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, where he remained for six years. In addition, he led the "Wild Gung'l ", a well-known in the Munich orchestra. In the same position he was from 1963 to 1965 at the Opera House in Freiburg.

Then he became Kapellmeister: 1965 in Lübeck, 1967 in Kassel, and as of 1971 in Frankfurt am Main; before he was appointed in 1975 as General Music Director of the Municipal Theater Freiburg.

In 1978 he went as chief conductor Christoph von Dohnányi and alternates at the Hamburg State Opera. There he took over the conducting class and the Orchestra of the Academy of Music and Theatre. In addition, he headed from 1980 to 1988, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra as principal conductor.

In 1987, he became General Music Director of the City of Kiel and remained the Philharmonic Orchestra of Kiel and the Kiel platforms for the next eight years connected until he took over in 1995 Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, he headed from 1997 to 1999 as chief conductor of the orchestra Museum Frankfurt and as acting as interim director of the opera.

After he had repeatedly conducts American orchestra since the early 40's his life, he was elected as the Music Director of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in 1995. After nine seasons as principal conductor of this orchestra he stood up to his death as Principal Guest Conductor of the page.
