Kleiner Falkenstein

The Little Falkenstein is a 1,190 -meter-high rock barrier in the Bavarian Forest National Park, located directly below the Great Falkenstein.

From its rocky peak offers a good view of the Great Arber, the Osser, the Zwiesler angle and into Bohemia. Reachable the Small Falkenstein is on the way from Zwieslerwaldhaus about the Steinbach cases on the Great Falkenstein. In the rock wall below the peak nesting peregrine falcons.

Nature reserve

The nature reserve Little Falkenstein was VO. the Government of Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate established on 31 October 1939 RegAnz 315. It was about 17 hectares and the Bavarian Forest came in 1997 with the expansion of the national park on this.
