Klępsk

Klepsk [ klɛmpsk ] ( German Klemzig ) is a village of about 600 inhabitants in Poland. It is located nine kilometers north-east of Sulechów ( Züllichau ) in the powiat Zielonogórski, Lubusz Province and belongs to the Gmina Sulechów.

History

In Klemzig there was an agricultural freehold with castle and winery owned by the family of Philips Born, in the 1930 / 1940 mainly managed by Mr. von Keyserling. The place name is known among other things, numerous emigrants, who settled at the beginning of the 20th century in Canada, Australia and the United States.

By 1945 Klemzig was in the former county Züllichau - Schwiebus in the province of Brandenburg (Neumark ). The village had 1939 539 inhabitants. There was a transport to the rail network of the former Deutsche Reichsbahn over the long Heiner village station.

In the years 1945-1947 the German inhabitants were expelled by force, first by the advancing Red Army, later also forcibly resettled Poland. The castle was completely destroyed as a result of the turmoil of war 1945/1946, are to receive individual farm buildings, stables and the remains of the castle park. Attractions

The local St. Mary's Church was built in 1576 as a half-timbered building for the local Protestant population and is one of the largest wooden churches in Poland. Still from the Gothic comes the three-bladed main altar. The painting of the interior of 1610-13, and above all of the wooden barrel vault, with biblical motifs as well as the rest, exceedingly rich Mannerist, or Renaissaceausstattung consisting of pulpit, altars, galleries and epitaphs remained virtually unchanged.
