Klondike Mines Railway

The Klondike Mines Railway is a former railway company in the Yukon Territory ( Canada). It was founded on July 10, 1899, to build a network of railway lines between Dawson and Dominion Creek, along the Klondike River. The gauge of the railway should be three feet ( 914 mm). The passenger station in Dawson was built on the river bank in the amount Queen Street, the route went from there but still continue to Albert Street. The construction stopped but after a few kilometers and was continued until 1906. In mid-July of the year were the first 21 km are opened up to Grand Forks and on October 16, 1906, the 51.19 km long track was completed to Sulphur Springs. The originally planned branch lines, and the distance along the Yukon River south of Dawson were not built.

In addition to the Golderztransporten the Yukon River Wood was transported to the mines and daily frequented a passenger train on the track. The first two locomotives were bought by the White Pass and Yukon Railway. After about the months of winter 1906/ 07 traffic was largely absent, the railway company decided to carry out the operation only from May to October each year. After the gold rush in the region, the railway introduced in October 1913 to operate. The vehicles shall remain in Dawson, where today three steam locomotives are exhibited. The track was in 1925 sold to the Yukon Consolidated Gold Corporation, which they degraded shortly thereafter. A part of the route, from Six Below to Bonanza, was acquired in 1928 by the government, which built a road to it.
