Kloostrimetsa

Kloostrimetsa is a municipality (Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn. The district is located in Pirita district.

District

Kloostrimetsa ( in German " Kloster Wald" ) is one of the most sparsely populated districts of Tallinn. He has 81 inhabitants (as of 1 May 2010). Kloostrimetsa lies on the River Pirita ( Pirita Jõgi ).

The name of the municipality refers to the large forest area of the influential monastery Pirita ( St. Bridget German ). The lying near the monastery of Birgitt Order was destroyed in 1577 during the Livonian War. The ruins can still be seen today.

In Kloostrimetsa find the botanical garden Tallinn, the 314 -meter high TV Tower Tallinn and the celebrity cemetery Metsakalmistu ( " Forest Cemetery ").
