Klostersee (Lehnin)

The Klostersee at Lehnin has a triangular basic shape and extends between Lehnin and Nahmitz. It covers an area of ​​38 hectares, is located in the central 29 m above sea level. Geologically, it is likely to be the residue of a Toteisblocks because the surrounding deposited in the Weichsel glaciation, Sander Plateau Zauche is rather barren and dry, and glacial valleys were not included here. The western shore is partial, the north and the east bank are almost completely forested. The south-eastern shore is built on the west bank there is a nature camping. Besides signposted hiking trails, the beach located on the east bank is worth mentioning that is created on a slope. About 100 meters south from the lido follows the Lehniner sculpture park with partially changing representations, in October 2004, for example with different pumpkin arrangements as a result of the annual Rosa Luxemburg Pumpkin Festival; in the photograph can be seen on the pegs in the lake pumpkins.

Namesake of the water was the 1180 of the second Brandenburg Margrave Otto I donated Cistercian monastery Lehnin, located a few minutes walk from the south end of the lake.
