Kneriidae

The family of Slender Fish ( Kneriidae ) includes four genera and 30 species. It belongs to the order of the sand Fishy ( Gonorynchiformes ) and is mainly found in the tropical areas of Africa south of the equator, and in the Nile River, Benue, Volta and Dja.
Features
Slim fish have an elongated, spindle-like form and are 2-15 inches long. Your mouth is more or less inferior, the maxillary protaktil ( vorstreckbar ). Kneria and Parakneria have cycloid scales and a lateral line, while the neotenen Cromeria and Grasseichthys are transparent and without scales and also have no lateral line organ.

The African mud fish ( family Phractolaemidae ) is the sister taxon of Kneriidae.
