Geography

Knüllwald located in Knüllgebirge between the rivers Efze and Beise south of Kassel.

Neighboring communities

Knüllwald bordered to the north by the municipality of Malles field, on the east by the municipalities Decayed (both in the Schwalm -Eder -Kreis), Alheim and Hersfeld, on the south by the municipality of New Stone (all three in Hersfeld -Rotenburg ) and the city Schwarzenborn, and to the west by the town of Homberg (Efze ) (both in the Schwalm -Eder -Kreis).

Structure

The municipality consists of the 16 districts Appenfeld, Berndshausen, Ellingshausen, Hausen, Herget field, light Hagen, Nausis, Nenterode, Niederbeisheim, Oberbeisheim, Reddingshausen, Remsfeld ( seat of the municipal administration), Rengshausen, Schell Bach, Völkershain and Wallenstein.

History

Formation and incorporations

The formation of the greater community Knüllwald as part of the municipal reform in Hesse was done in two stages. On December 31, 1971, the municipalities Appenfeld, Ellingshausen, Herget field Oberbeisheim, Reddingshausen, Remsfeld, Schell Bach, Völkershain and Wallenstein have voluntarily joined the new community Knüllwald.

By state law the municipalities Berndshausen, Niederbeisheim and Rengshausen came on 1 January 1974 the greater community Knüllwald. Thus, one of the largest communities in Hessen area was created.

  • Church Niederbeisheim: built in 1775, renovated in 1963
  • Church Oberbeisheim: Built in 1720, baptismal font, renovated in 1971
  • Church Remsfeld: Gothic church with late choir and a late Gothic wall tabernacle and a baptismal font
  • Reddingshausen Church: Built in 1600, trusses, paintings. The church was renovated in 1953. Since 2007, the first church of Hesse cyclists directly on the R 17
  • Church Schell Bach: built in the 15th century, renovated in 1966/67,
  • Church Völkershain: built in 1575, renovated in 1955 and 1971
