Köchelstorf ( until August 1st 1999 Köchelstorf b. Rehna ) is a municipality in the district of North West Wedendorfersee in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). Until 1 July 2011, the place was a separate municipality.

Geography

Köchelstorf is located in a hilly area east of Radegast River about halfway between Lübeck and Schwerin. The Wedendorfer lake separates Köchelstorf from neighboring Wedendorf.

History

The 1230 first mentioned as Chochelestorp place is dominated by agriculture with open fields and pastures. The local agricultural cooperative is primarily concerned with the cultivation of grain.

The former municipality Köchelstorf, which also includes the hamlets of gasoline and Great Hundorf (both previously independent municipalities were amalgamated on 1 July 1950) included, went through a merger with Wedendorf on 1 July 2011 in the new community Wedendorfersee on.

Transport links

Roads leading from Köchelstorf in the neighboring town Rehna (3 km), to Gadebusch ( 7 km) and the town of Greve Mills ( 14 km). From Rehna is connected by train to Schwerin.
