Kogakkan University

The Kōgakkan University (Japanese皇 学 馆 大学, Kōgakkan daigaku ) is a private university in Japan. The main campus is located in Ise in Mie Prefecture. She is, in addition to the Kokugakuin University, one of the two universities that have the training course of Shinto priests.

History

The university has established its origin in 1882 Jingū - Kōgakkan (神宫 皇 学 馆, dt ' Institute at Ise jingū for Japanese history, tradition and Shinto studies "). The institute comes first a seminary for the Shinto shrine. 1903 was a State technical college and moved in 1919 to the present Ise campus. 1940 became the government - Jingū Kōgakkan University (神宫 皇 学 馆 大学).

In March 1946, after the Pacific War, the University by the Shinto Directive (神道 指令, Shinto shirei ) was closed by the SCAP, because she was a national research center of State Shinto. Finally, in 1962, the university was rebuilt as a private Kōgakkan University.

In 1998 she opened her second campus in Nabari (Faculty of welfare ). The campus is closed but in 2011, and the faculty will move it to Ise because the rural campus has collected only a few students.
