Kohima is the capital of the Indian state of Nagaland. It is the market town and has about 80,000 inhabitants.

During the Second World War, the rise of the Japanese and the Indian National Army Subhash Chandra Bose was stopped in the battles of Kohima and Imphal. Today, a large war cemetery recalls. Every year in December, near the city instead of the five-day Hornbill Festival, where the culture of the Naga tribes is presented and their dancers occur.
