KOI8-U

KOI8 -U is a character set that is used for the character encoding of the Cyrillic alphabet for the Ukrainian language in computer systems and uses only a single byte for encoding.

KOI8 -U is a superset of ASCII and thus includes the 26 letters of the Latin alphabet. KOI8 -U shares many characteristics with KOI8 -R for Russian. The international character set standard Unicode replaced KOI8 -U completely.

KOI -U is described in RFC 2319 and IANA - registered and approved for MIME.

Table

The differences between KOI8 -R are at the positions 0xA4, 0xA6, 0xA7, 0xB4 and 0xAD, 0xB6, 0xB7, 0xBD ( in the table above highlighted) where the four required additional letters are coded.

While RFC 2319 says that 0x95 Unicode U 2219 ( ∙ ) is to be, it is often in U 2022 ( • ) implemented for compatibility with code page 1251st Some references have a typo and assign erroneously 0xB4 U 0403 to, instead of the correct U 0404. This typo is also in Appendix A of RFC 2319 , but the table in the main text is correct.
