Koichi Tanaka

Koichi Tanaka (Japanese田中 耕 一, Koichi Tanaka, born August 3, 1959 in Toyama, Toyama Prefecture) is a Japanese chemist.

Tanaka studied at the faculty of engineering of the Tohoku University and joined the company Shimadzu after graduating in 1983.

Along with John B. Fenn and Kurt Wüthrich won him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded in 2002. In the same year he also received the Japanese Order of Culture.

In 2009 he was visiting professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Tokyo.
