The comedy Winterhuder ferry is a private theater in Hamburg

It is Winterhude at the Hudtwalckerstraße, corner Winterhuder Kai directly on the Alster. The theater was opened on 2 September 1988 with the piece Stormy Crossing by Tom Stoppard. They will play mainly comedies and light comedies.

Today's Comedy House stands on the site of the historic Winterhuder Ferry Station, which was built in 1854 by the coal merchant Jacobs as tourist restaurant. Around 1890 a new hall building was built in the Art Nouveau style, with changed ownership and programs to 1979 as " fine business " trip and dance hall, a cultural house for meetings, conferences and celebrations an institution in Winterhude and throughout Hamburg. The new house was designed by the architect Peter Schweger. It has a large hall with 580 seats and a small hall with 99 seats. The first director was Rolf Mares. Since 1999, it is run by Michael Lang.

In 2004, the theater with the Pegasus Prize was awarded. 2013 was the theater in the category of comedy the undoped Monica Bleibtreu Prize of the private theater days for production of Folke Braband of the play A Midsummer Night by David Greig and Gordon McIntyre.
