Kompassi
Kompassi ( German for " Compass " ) is a district (Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn. It is located in the district Kesklinn ( "downtown" ).
Description and History
Kompassi has 2,018 inhabitants (as of 1 May 2010).
In Kompassi there are many modern buildings that have arisen after regaining of Estonian independence. Among them are the modern shopping center Viru keskus and the Hotell Tallinnk.
In Kompassi to 2009, founded in 1914, Estonian Academy of Arts ( Eesti Kunstiakadeemia ) was housed. Since 2009 she is based in the former home of the Estonian knighthood on Cathedral Hill.
