Königshütte Dam

The dam Chorzów is a dam in Saxony -Anhalt in the resin. The barrage across the Bode and lies between Chorzów and Susen castle (both districts of Upper am Brocken ). It is a so-called reconciliation lock a part of Rappbode reservoir system.

Description

The dam was built with a war-related interruption of 1939-1943 and 1952-1956 at the Bode than 18 m high concrete gravity dam for water supply and flood control, but also serves the low water levels and power generation. The hydroelectric plant has a power rating of 60 kW and produced in 0.18 GWh.

The slightly curved wall is 108 meters long and has a volume of 13,500 m³. Überströmbar is almost over the entire width. A fish-belly flap is mounted in a box, which can be lowered to the spillway by 1.5 m.

The reservoir has a capacity of 1.2 million cubic meters and covers an area of 32 ha. Part of the water is passed from here through a 1,795 m long tunnel to Rappbode reservoir. The other part flows into the Bode continues to Wendefurth Dam, where he reunites with the water from the Rappbode reservoir.

On the north side along a barely driven concrete road from Chorzów runs up to the dam. In the embankment walls an excellent geological profile through the unterkarbonische hut Röder Olisthostrom is open. On the south side you can then pass on a wide path back to Chorzów. The way you will also pass the confluence of Cold and Warm Bode. From the dam numerous other hiking trails in almost all directions. Leisure activities at fishing and hiking are possible.
