Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond

The Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond ( KNHB ) is the Dutch Association for hockey and was founded in 1898.

Importance

The KNHB had in the year 2006 184.923 members, representing a share of 11.3 ‰ of the population in the Netherlands corresponds ( Germany 0.83 ‰). Since 2001, the member numbers increased by about 35 %. The seat is located in Nieuwegein near Utrecht. Since 2006, the former national player Jan Albers is facing the association.

The KNHB organizes the sport in the field and indoor hockey, indoor hockey which, in contrast to Germany plays only a minor role. Also, the game operation differs in that in the regular league system play only 1.Mannschaften and other teams compete in separate competitions. The KNHB hosted the World Hockey Championships in 1973 in the men's in Amstelveen, at the 1976 Women's also in Amstelveen, as well as at the 1998 doubleheader in Utrecht.
