Konrad Becker

Konrad Becker (born 9 January 1959 in Vienna) is an Austrian media researcher, activist, author, composer and producer in the field of art and electronic media. He lives in Vienna and is co-founder of the Institute for New Culture Technologies/t0, which he also directs, and initiator of Public Netbase and World Information.Org.

Konrad Becker has been an artist since the late 70s. His work has been featured in numerous publications, including many international newspapers and magazines with more than 3,500 articles, reports and interviews. His work as an artist in the field of electronic media and digital networks has received several awards ( Prix Ars Electronica Award of the City of Vienna and others) and is characterized by numerous collaborations with well-known representatives of a new artistic practice. He was active in various fields of electronic arts and culture: audio and video, radio and television, multimedia productions and installations of software and virtual reality through a social sculpture. Becker can boast numerous publications, participations in international exhibitions and events about media culture as well as memberships in international committees and working groups on information and communication technology. As a book author and writer of texts to the policy of infosphere, which partly exist in multiple translations, he deals with the cultural and psychosocial implications of a particular technology information society. Konrad Becker is the initiator and co-organizer of a variety of interventions in public space, and organizer of numerous international festivals and conferences. As a founding member of the European Cultural Backbone (ECB ) and participants in various cultural networks, he contributed to the inter-regional cooperation of cultural workers in the field of new information and communication technologies.
