Konrad Junghänel

Junghänel ( born February 27, 1953 in Gütersloh ) is a German lutenist and conductor.

Junghänel began at the age of 17 years, his studies at the Academy of Music and Dance Cologne. Even as a 20 - year-old he accompanied the countertenor René Jacobs, making him similar coined as the collaboration with Alfred Deller.

As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed in Europe, Japan, Australia, South America, Africa and the USA. He has played together with the ensemble Les Arts Florissants, La Petite Bande and Musica Antiqua Köln.

In 1987 he founded the ensemble Cantus Coelln, with whom he recorded more than 30 CDs. Several times he worked as a conductor at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music.

Junghänel teaches since 1994 as a professor at the Hochschule für Musik Köln.
