Konstal 105Na

The Konstal 105Na is a Polish tram railcars in open construction. It runs on all Polish tram operations. The railcar was built for the 1435 mm and 1000 mm, in the latter version as 805Na.

History

The 105Na is the most famous Polish tram railcars. From 1974 to 1994, the standard of Konstal 105Na (now " Alstom Konstal S. A. " ) was prepared in Chorzów. The first series of the series was known as 105N. This next series have been modified, while the electrical system was rearranged and improved the cab plus control console. So the 105N and given its present name 105Na.

Originally the 105Na small slices over the entrances and around the cab. These small discs were eventually removed completely. The reasons were, inter alia, the security aspect and that the small discs were considered unnecessary. Over time, even small modernization through the various city operations were performed, which were later adopted in production. There were besides many projects and prototypes with respect to the 105Na, of these, however, most never performed or were produced only in small numbers. The 105Na was produced in a quantity of 1443 pieces and the meter gauge version 805Na in a quantity of 691 pieces. 805Na the same changes were carried out as in 105Na. The two tram railcars differ only by the chassis from each other.

Modernization

The individual city farms modernized and modernizing the 105Na constantly. For example, new doors, cabs, controls, external changes, modes, types of engine or interior equipment be improved and modernized. In effect, the companies receive modern trams in old construction. There are incidentally equipment companies that have specialized in the modernization of the 105Na.

Here is a list of some of these upgrades:

However, there are cities where the 105Na and 805Na were only moderately modernized and have therefore retained its model name. The modernization usually refer to switch from four to three door pairs with modern doors, minor modifications of the control console and engine changes. The trams are thus approximated in the end, quieter operation and the current standards.

Control

The control is effected by means of two pedals of the control console. When the right pedal provides the acceleration, is responsible for braking the left. In addition to the two control pedals is also located another pedal, the emergency brake. Pressing the emergency stop activates the drum brakes, working brakes and the outer ring signal. In some modernized 105Na webs controlling the pedal is converted to manual control ( 105Nk2000, 805NM ) and the emergency brake is not removed.

Operation

The 105Na and modernized trains run mainly in double traction, sometimes individually. Initially coupled to three 105Na railcars along a road train. This system is rarely used because of the frequent accidents at bus stops, only on special occasions. In Krakow, the line will be 4 and 13, however, operated in the week driving with trains of three cars.
