Konstantin Fedin

Konstantin Aleksandrovich Fedin (Russian Константин Александрович Федин; * Februarjul 12 / 24 February 1892greg in Saratov, .. † 15 July 1977 in Moscow) was a Russian writer and actor.

Life

Fedin came from a humble background.

During a journey through Germany, he was in 1914, civil interned after the outbreak of the First World War because of his Russian citizenship. Fedin lived during this time in different cities, so in Zittau, Dresden, Görlitz, Zwickau and Nuremberg, gave language lessons and appeared as an actor. There he came into contact with German expressionists. It was not until 1918 he was allowed to return to his home as part of a prisoner exchange. This time he sat in his 1924 novel, cities and years ( Города и годы ) a monument. In 1931 he spent, ill with tuberculosis, a cure in Davos, which was allowed him by Gorky. From this experience he wrote the novel sanatorium Arcturus ( Санаторий Арктур ​​).

Fedin also worked as a lecturer at the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute, where authors were trained. His students included Yuri Valentinovich Trifonov, he discovered and promoted.

The Soviet Society for Friendship with the GDR chose Fedin after the Second World War as its chairman. In 1959, the Writers' Union of the USSR also appointed him as its Chairman.

He was a member of the literary group Serapionsbrüder.

1982 Konstantin Fedin was appointed posthumously honorary citizen of Zittau. Until 1990, the 8th probably Polytechnic High School was named after him in Zittau and was officially called "8 POS - Konstantin Fedin High School Zittau ".
