Kopice, Opole Voivodeship

Kopice ( German Koppitz, from 1936 to 1945 Black background) is a village in the municipality Grodków in powiat Brzeski in the Opole Voivodeship.

History

The place was first mentioned in documents in 1289. It first belonged to the Duchy of Wroclaw, and after his graduation in 1311 to the Duchy Brieg. Meanwhile, Duke Boleslaw III in 1344. Koppitz sold in 1344 along with Grottkau and its surroundings at the Breslau Bishop Preczlaw of Pogarell, which it got to the episcopal principality of Neisse ( Diocese of land ), which had in 1333 obtained the sovereignty and the year 1342 was a fief of the Crown of Bohemia. Until the secularization in 1810 Koppitz remained connected to the diocese country.

A separate parish of the manor Koppitz is demonstrated for the first time in 1580. After the First Silesian War in 1742 it fell to Prussia. 1816 was assigned to the district Grottkau with which it was connected until 1945. As a result of the Second World War it was in 1945 placed under Polish administration and renamed Kopice. Today, the village is part of the gmina Grodków.
