Koresand

Geographical location

The Koresand is a high sand in the southern Danish Wadden Sea southwest of the island of Mando. On Koresand there were at least a mound until the island was abandoned in the 19th century after several storm surges by the residents. With approximately 20 square kilometers Koresand is currently the largest sandbank of the Wadden Sea.

In the summer months there are guided walks across the mudflats and trips with horse carriage from Mando after Koresand. If time permits, the water level continues daily a car to the west coast of Koresand where the Wadden Sea ends and the sea begins. With a suitable wind is on Koresand much to find amber. On the south side you can often see seals lying on the sand. The journey takes about two hours.
