Körfez ( to German golf) is a district of the Turkish province of Kocaeli, while a district of Büyükşehir Belediyesi ( city municipality ) Kocaeli. The village is located about 12 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital of İzmit.

The district is located in the center of the province on the northern shores of the Marmara Sea. It is bordered on the west by Dilovasi and Gebze, on the north by the province of Istanbul, on the east by Derince and on the south by the Gulf of İzmit. Pass through Körfez, approximately along the coast, the European Route 80, which leads coming from Edirne until after Ağrı and the Iraqi border, and parallel to the highway D -100. About 15 kilometers north- west of the county town is the 647 meter high mountain Karakayalı Tepesi. In place Körfez, is located on the Sea of ​​Marmara, a refinery of the company Tüpraş.
