Korvatunturi

The Korvatunturi ( en.: Ear Mountain ) is a 486 meter high mountain in the municipality Savukoski in Finnish Lapland. It lies on the border strip at the Finnish- Russian border in the Urho Kekkonen National Park. The boundary line runs through the middle of the three peaks of the mountain. To climb the mountain, you need a permit from the Finnish Border Guard.

History

After a Christmas tale of the popular in the 1920s Finnish broadcaster Markus Rautio ( "Uncle Mark" ) from 1927 lives inside the mountain of Santa Claus (Finnish: joulupukki ) with his reindeer and his helpers, the elves ( tonttu ). This idea was taken up by the author Mauri Kunnas in his Christmas books. However, the bringer of gifts alive in his stories in a small isolated village on the mountainside.

Starting from the original idea came in 2010 under the direction of Jalmari Helander Finnish feature-length fantasy horror movie Rare Exports: A Christmas Carol.

Others
