Koshihikari

Koshihikari (Japaneseコシヒカリor越 光, dt " light of Koshi ") is a type of rice that is grown in Japan but also in Australia and the United States.

Koshihikari was for the first time in 1956 bred from the combination of two different types of rice Norin 1- gō (农林1号) and Norin 22 - gō (农林22号) in Fukui Noji Kairyo Jikkensho (福井 农 事 改良 実 験 所, " Agricultural Improvement Research Institute Fukui "). The variety grew in popularity, partly probably also by their good looks. Today it is one of the most planted species in the country and their tastes may vary by region. Koshihikari was pulled in the region of Niigata Prefecture Uonuma -, is one of the most expensive varieties of rice in Japan.
