Kostolné Kračany

Kostolné Kračany ( until 1948 slovak " Kostolné Korčany "; Hungarian Egyházkarcsa ) is a municipality in south-western Slovakia with 1272 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Dunajská Streda, a part of the Trnavský kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located on the Great Rye Island, part of the Slovak Danube lowland. The municipal area is just dehydrated with fertile soil and of some channels. The center is located at an altitude of 116 m nm and is four kilometers away from Dunajská Streda.

Neighboring municipalities are Veľké Blahovo in the north, Dunajská Streda in the northeast and east, Vrakúň in the south, Jurová in the southwest and Kráľovičove Kračany in the West.

Administratively divided the community in community Parts Amadeho Kračany, Kostolné Kračany, Kynceľove Kračany, Moravské Kračany, Pinkove Kračany and Šipošovské Kračany (Hungarian Amadékarcsa, Egyházkarcsa, Göncölkarcsa, Mórockarcsa, Pinkekarcsa and Siposkarcsa ).

History

Today's church was made in 1940 by the merger of six previously separate places, all of which are still parts of municipalities today. Initially, the community was the Hungarian name Amadékarcsa (until 1945 ) and then to 1948 Slovak Amadeovské Korčany before renaming.

The area around the village was first mentioned in 1215 as Corcha writing. The meaning of the name Karcsa is not readily explained: Some derive the word from an old Turkish name for a small fortified courtyard, while others point to a resemblance to the old Hungarian judges Title Karchas. In the Middle Ages arose in the field today several villages that were named as following: Egyházaskarcha ( 1351 ), Remegkarcha ( 1355 ), Diákkarcha ( 1357 ), Barthalkarcha ( 1377 ), Lászlókarcha ( 1377 ) and Lucakarcha ( 1467 ). The places had and still have all of an agricultural character.

Until 1919 included the county located in Bratislava places the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today. On the basis of the First Vienna Award in 1938-45 they were again in Hungary.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Kostolné Kračany 1,254 inhabitants, of whom 1,111 Magyars, 129 Slovaks, two Czechs and one Russian; a resident had a different ethnic group. 10 inhabitants did not know. 1,106 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, 40 inhabitants to the Reformed Church, six inhabitants to the Evangelical Church AB, four inhabitants of the Greek Catholic Church and a resident of the Orthodox Church; nine residents were of a different denomination. 43 residents were non-denominational and 45 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
