Kothar-wa-Khasis

Kotar - hasis ( other spellings Kothar - Chasis, Kotar - Chasis, Kotar, Kothar, Kothar -wa- Khasis, Kotar -wa- Khasis ) is in the Ugaritic mythology ( in what is now northern Syria) an intermediate beings, neither God nor man. He is Demiurge, creator, bringer of culture and explorers, including blacksmith, instrument makers, musicians and sailors. He made, among others, the armor Ba'al for its fight against Yam. Kothar invented the burning of bricks, could melt silver and was well acquainted with gold and copper. He made chisels and copper boiler. He made jewelry, where he associated with lapis lazuli precious metals. He also poured bells.

Kotar - hasis was also seafarers and sailed out to the open sea, where he had to compete against dragons and demons. He discovered distant lands and sailed to Cyprus and Egypt.
