The Köttelbach (also called " Köttelsbach ") is a nearly 4 km long right tributary of the north-east or Dhünn.
Course
The Köttelbach rises in Leverkusen - Lützenkirchen near the sports field. It flows, partly underground, in a southwesterly direction to its main flow direction, which he retains substantially to its mouth. On the outskirts he takes on the Holzer Bach. In Quettingen the creek flowing through the forest Bürgerbusch. East of Jakob Fröhlen - road it is fed by the small meadow stream and shortly thereafter the monk Bach and the Bach Blankenburger. The Köttelbach now flows through the Fixheide. A little later he is strengthened by the Land mountain stream and passes under the Schlebuscher road and the embankment of the freight line Mülheim- Speldorf - Troisdorf. It flows past a small lake, passes under the A1 motorway and empties into Alkenrath in the tracks of the railway line Opladen - Cologne in the Dhünn.
Pollution
In Water Quality Report 2001 of the Environmental Agency of North Rhine -Westphalia is the Köttelbach as critically polluted (class II -III) classified.
Biosphere
The Civil bush, a forest area in Leverkusen, is a rich haven for many different animal and plant species.
